This programme aims to give students the academic and practical skills they need to develop a critical understanding of the role of science education, research and communication in society. To participate fully in the scientific practices in the classroom, students need to develop a shared understanding of the norms of participation in science. This includes social norms for constructing and presenting a scientific argument and engaging in scientific debates. It also includes habits of mind, such as adopting a critical stance, a willingness to ask questions and seek help, and developing a sense of appropriate trust and skepticism.

Each of the views of science articulated above highlights particular modes of thought that are essential to that view. These views are not mutually exclusive descriptions of science, but rather each stresses particular aspects. The utilization of historical, philosophical and sociological scholarship to clarify and deal with the many intellectual issues facing contemporary science and mathematics education. In this paper, the problems of challenges for science education and soultions to overcome these problems are presented. The lack of epistemological role of science is emphasized and the productive use of history and philosophy of science is proposed in science education.

The Science Education MA aims to reflect contemporary theory in all aspects of practice in science education: international, formal and informal. The IJRES welcomes any research papers on education and science using techniques from and applications in any technical knowledge domain: original theoretical works, literature reviews, research reports, social issues, psychological issues, curricula, learning environments, book reviews, and review articles. The articles should be original, unpublished, and not in consideration for publication elsewhere at the time of submission to the IJRES. As an open access journal, International Journal of Research in Education and Science (IJRES) does not charge article submission or processing fees.

The Science Education Partnership Award (SEPA) Program funds innovative pre-kindergarten to grade 12 (P-12) science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and Informal Science Education (ISE) educational projects.
