The Science Education MA aims to reflect contemporary theory in all aspects of practice in science education: international, formal and informal. You can study education science at either Aarhus Campus or Emdrup Campus in Copenhagen. As a student at the Danish School of Education, your place of study will be Denmark’s largest research and teaching environment within learning and education. You will be part of the whole department’s study environment, which also consists of Master’s students from various programmes. Education science has a vibrant study environment at both Aarhus Campus and Emdrup Campus, where you can get involved in various associations.
practice (see Lehrer and Schauble, 2006). The science-as-practice perspective invokes the notion that learning science involves learning a system of interconnected ways of thinking in a social context to accomplish the goal of working with and understanding scientific ideas. This perspective stresses how conceptual understanding of natural systems is linked to the ability to develop explanations of phenomena and to carry out empirical investigations in order to develop or evaluate knowledge claims.
Interactive digital media (IDM) are defined as products and services on digital computer-based systems which respond to the user’s actions by presenting content such as text, moving image, animation, video, audio, and video games. There is a large body of evidence that IDM technology has the potential to support learning in a variety of contexts from primary and secondary schools, to universities, adult education and workplace training. IDM is widely used to train, educate, and encourage behavioral changes in a virtual world format where progressive learning, feedback on success and user control are combined into an interactive and engaging experience.
In order to become involved in education science, you’ll have to familiarize yourself with pedagogy and teaching itself. Ideally, you’ll want to have educational experience at the undergraduate and graduate level in those fields. Once you have that foundation, then you can pursue a doctoral degree program in educational studies and research, or something similar. This is the ideal major for students interested in education science.
Education science provides you with an extensive overview of the field of education. You study the roles that learning, education and pedagogics play in schools, educational institutions, and in businesses and political organisations. You focus on societal analysis and studying how we, as a society, should live in future and therefore, what educations and training we will need to do that.
