Science education is a highly dynamic field of applied and basic research and of research-based development. The overall objective of the Peer Review of the Polish Higher Education and Science System was to provide recommendations on the future development of Poland’s science and higher education policy in support of innovation. The specific focus areas of the Peer Review were the following: (1) Structural changes in the science and higher education; (2) Links between the higher education sector and the other actors of the innovation system; and (3) Internationalisation of the science and higher education sector – trends, key areas for improvement.

Science education is a highly dynamic field of applied and basic research and of research-based development. The United States’ average science literacy score of 493 was not significantly different from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) average and put the United States behind 18 other education systems. In contrast, the mathematics literacy score was below the OECD average and put the United States behind 36 other education systems.

All of the courses on the Bachelor’s degree programme in education science fall within the scope of the social sciences and the humanities. The courses are based on current educational research and are built around elements from sociology, anthropology, philosophy, psychology and education and pedagogics. Interdisciplinarity is therefore a recurring element in the courses you will meet during your studies.

Enhancing Education

The Journal of Technology and Science Education (JOTSE) has been created as a contribution to the development and improvement of scientific and technological education by constituting a common space to share experiences to all those who, somehow, are involved in the teaching and learning processes of engineering studies, in all modalities. During the spring semester of year two, you will undertake the first of your two teaching practice placements for six weeks in a second level school. Your second placement will be in semester 1 of the final year, for 12 weeks.
