The Journal of Technology and Science Education (JOTSE) has been created as a contribution to the development and improvement of scientific and technological education by constituting a common space to share experiences to all those who, somehow, are involved in the teaching and learning processes of engineering studies, in all modalities. During the spring semester of year two, you will undertake the first of your two teaching practice placements for six weeks in a second level school. Your second placement will be in semester 1 of the final year, for 12 weeks. During these placements, you will teach junior or senior science topics to second level pupils, and you will be supervised by UL academic staff.
Evidence for links between Strands 3 and 4 and the other two strands is less robust, but emerging findings are compelling. Motivation, which is an element of Strand 4, clearly plays an important role in learning (see Chapter 7 ). Furthermore, instruction that makes the norms for participating in science explicit supports students’ ability to critique evidence and coordinate theory and evidence (Herrenkohl and Guerra, 1998; for further discussion, see Chapters 7 and 9 ).
The courses comprising teacher education programs are unrelated to each other. The University of Georgia has one of the largest and most respected groups of mathematics and science education faculty in the world. All of our prominent researchers teach doctoral courses and direct doctoral dissertation studies. Our researchers also teach undergraduate courses, implementing knowledge generated through their research.
indicates that students do not go through general stages of cognitive development, and there are no critical periodsâ€ for learning particular aspects of science. Rather, cognitive capacities directly related to scientific practice usually do not fully develop in and of themselves apart from instruction, even in older children or adults. These capacities need to be nurtured, sustained, and elaborated in supportive learning environments that provide effective scaffolding and targeted as important through assessment practices.

Importantly, the single indicative course tuition fee is subject to annual review, and will increase each year of your study in the combined degree.
