The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (Ukrainian: Міністерство освіти і науки України) is the main body in the system of central bodies of the executive power. There is strength in the diversity of institutions and faculty involved with science teacher education. With a Bachelor’s degree in history, you are eligible for admission to a range of different Master’s degree programmes. For example, the Master’s degree programme in education science, which can give you career opportunities in areas such as competence development in organisations and companies, staff development and educational counselling.
The courses comprising teacher education programs are unrelated to each other. The University of Georgia has one of the largest and most respected groups of mathematics and science education faculty in the world. All of our prominent researchers teach doctoral courses and direct doctoral dissertation studies. Our researchers also teach undergraduate courses, implementing knowledge generated through their research.
Informal science education is the science teaching and learning that occurs outside of the formal school curriculum in places such as museums, the media, and community-based programs. The National Science Teachers Association has created a position statement 49 on Informal Science Education to define and encourage science learning in many contexts and throughout the lifespan. Research in informal science education is funded in the United States by the National Science Foundation. 50 The Center for Advancement of Informal Science Education (CAISE) 51 provides resources for the informal science education community.
Science education changed in the 1950s as leaders and the general public demanded improvements to match the Soviet successes in space. National spending for improving school science programs and the preparation of science teachers were made a priority in the National Science Foundation (NSF). Scientists were called to provide leadership in the reform of school programs and the development of better-prepared teachers.
Gaps between male and female students on NAEP mathematics and science assessments were small, with average score differences of two to five points in favor of male students.
